OSCR SCO 11017
Susan Martin, our Junior Church
leader, will retire at the summer. In her role she
set up the hall weekly for the children coming down from church,
organised our monthly rotas of leaders, ordered teaching material,
taught a group of children, planned our Christmas nativity, selected
books for our prize giving and lots more. We thank Susan for the way she
quietly and diligently undertook these duties and for her 9 years of
faithful service to our church and to the Lord.
We are delighted that Lynsey
Martin has volunteered to take over the role of Junior Church leader.
We are very blessed to have a happy team of leaders and
volunteers working with our young people. We are
always looking for new helpers and if you would like to be part of this
team please contact Lynsey or myself.
The Junior Church will have
their Thanksgiving Service and Picnic on Sunday June 19th.
The Picnic will take place in the Church Grounds ( or in the hall
if the weather is bad) immediately after the service.
Over the summer our Junior Church will continue to meet each week.

Learning Bible storiesOne of the joys of running this website is that I get involved in areas of the church's activities that I would not normally participate in. One such occasion was my first attendance at Sunday School for the first time in over half a century!
Needless to say things have changed a bit from the early 1950s, when we learned to recite the books of the Bible parrot fashion, and to recite passages of text from the Old and New Testaments. Looking back on it the emphasis would appear to have been getting the passages word perfect rather than understanding their message!
The purpose of my visit was to get some photographs for the website, and as the photos show there is now much more active participation - and fun! - in finding out about the Christian message.
To see larger versions of these photos, and a further selection, please click here. You can then either play a slide show (link on top left of page) or click on individual photos.
