OSCR SCO 11017
As we move into the brighter days of Spring our church too is moving into brighter times. We now have a beautiful new church hall that we can proudly call our own, thanks to the very generous bequest which we received last year, which rounded off all our fund-raising efforts and paid off the outstanding amount of our debts on our new hall. It is a wonderful fresh start to 2010.
We are also anticipating a brighter outlook in our accounts for 2009, thanks to your generous offerings. Our Treasurer and the Stewardship and Finance Committee have recently been busy preparing our Church accounts and the budget for the year ahead. You will be able to get an up-to-date picture of our finances when the accounts become available very soon. These accounts will be discussed at our church’s annual meeting which takes place after the Sunday service mid-March.
On these accounts, you will see that the amount of money we reclaim from the tax man on your gift aided offerings makes a considerable increase in our annual income. If you are a tax payer, please give through our Gift Aid Scheme. Our will give you information on how to be part of this scheme. With many members now redirecting their New Hall offerings into their Church Offerings, it makes sense to make full use of this extra tax benefit.
Susan Bruce, our Treasurer, has been carrying out an admirable job of keeping our finances in order for the past 19 years. However, Susan is moving on from this office and we welcome Wendy Butter to the role of Bookkeeper and Steve Johnston as Treasurer.
Our grateful thanks to Susan for the enormous contribution she has made during her time in office and, in welcoming Wendy and Steve, we extend our friendship and support in doing these very important jobs.
Our warm wishes to everyone for Springtime.
